Finished product prototypes – the Folk Hearts stationery collection
Last week, I posted the original artwork that I used for today’s designs-just as they were, pretty much right from my sketchbook. In the week since, I’ve had a ton of fun adapting the original colored pencil illustrations into a whole suite of stationery products currently for sale on my Etsy shop!
When I launched Magpie and Pen on Etsy, I created a range of products that I can easily manufacture myself in my home studio, using only a few pieces of specialty equipment. With my folk heart illustrations, I decided to try adapting them to my entire range of current products – which includes greeting cards, writing pads, notebooks, and bookmarks, all made here in my studio!

I might not be finished with these illustrations yet! I’ve been experimenting with more surface design, so this pattern might be adapted and re-sized for things like mugs on Society6 or fabric and paper patterns on Spoonflower really soon. Updates on that, and even more, to come!
