Yesterday, I took a break from drawing in Photoshop to spend some quality time with paints. I used this little grid of plant drawings that’s been sitting in my sketchbook for a while now, and I really like the way that they turned out! Every time I work with gouache, I have so much fun. I also realized at some point while working on them that these are going to make amazing stickers. My plan was already to design some sort of floral set to go with my two cute, cartoonish ones, and now I have a good jumping off point. These are very summer to me, so my plan is to do three more with spring, autumn, and winter-type designs.
Meanwhile, I have had my Cricut machine out in the workspace, experimenting with scoring and cutting envelopes for my cheeseburger postcards. This type of creativity is so different than the kind that I usually operate in day-to-day, but it was so much fun to have a little cardboard sleeve that I could actually hold and which held the cards all neatly. I danced around with it for a while when I finally got the tab right!
This morning, I scanned the prototype for my sticker sheet sleeve, so those will be in the works next. Soon, I am going to be able to hold a bunch of stuff in my hands that’s ready to ship, and that’s SO exciting!
