This week, I’ve been working on both Summer AND Fall designs! I spotted the first actual red leaf outside, so now it’s time to break out my brightest orange paint.
I’m not quite finished painting flowers yet, however. I’ve wanted to design a series of decorative florals based on seasonal flowers for a while, and this was my first real attempt stylizing some gladiolus and wild asters.

To really go with the feeling of being at the height of summer, I took my inspiration from the bright colors you could find on beach towel. My “greens” are really aqua-sea greens and dark wisteria blue. This autumn, I have a personal goal to really dig into some neutral color palettes, but for this I still wanted to go with a bunch of big, saturated colors.
Later this week, I’ll show some Fall card designs that you can actually buy right now, but in the meantime, I’ll leave today with a prototype for a Halloween pop-up design, currently being prototyped!
