This week, I was excited to be featured in the Artist Spotlight on Doodle Addicts, a community where I usually post my work! It was really an honor to be asked to do it, and to have been given a chance to answer questions about me and my art. Yesterday, I completed a run of sticker sheet prototypes that went great, so between the two things, I felt justified in taking a day off today to just play with paint!
Today’s painting is the result: an imaginary still life with imaginary flowers. It was inspired by the word “wine” drawn out of a little cigar box full of lists of prompts. Instead of doing an illustration of wine (I just wasn’t feeling it), I thought about wine as a color, so I mixed up a pan of burgundy red and used it as the jumping off point for my palette. It’s essentially just a color study with flowers and fun, mysterious props, and an excuse to practice my watercolors!
