Seer of Springtime

Surreal drawing of a veiled woman with a raven perched upon her head tracing a finger over the intricate roots of plants while spring flowers blossom above.
graphite, marker

This week was marked out on the calendar for a workspace re-haul. After two days of scrambling to take down all of the stuff in my studio, only to set it up again, newly reorganized, I’m left feeling both tired and energized. I rewarded myself by doing some good old fashioned drawing, and so I got this lady done today.

She is eventually going to join other moody fairy drawings on the some cards and prints. Like most of the people and creatures I draw, she’s not really from anything, but I imagined while I was drawing her that she is reading the subtle signs of Spring from the root systems of plants.
