Today’s paintings are from last week, sketched on the front porch in the sunshine. Although the mixed media herbs are nice, my favorite to work on was the portrait. My inspiration image came from somewhere on Pinterest. I love the photo, but I have no idea where it’s originally from! By the time that I finalized the drawing, however, I had decided to change a lot, including some of the facial features and the position of the figure’s hand.
The original has amazing lighting, which I scrapped so that I could paint my figure in a vibrant shirt against a stark white background. Overall, I’m pretty happy with how this one turned out and it reminds me of hot summer afternoons.
