Inked!

My biggest focus right now is on prototyping a few things to sell, and this includes a couple of coloring books. This week I’ve been focusing on “inking” the pencil drawings of The Flower Seller and The Toymaker in Photoshop, just to see how clean and coloring book-esque I could make them.

It turns out I freaking love drawing in Photoshop? It’s worse on my hand for some reason, but the compression glove I got to help make my hand glide across the tablet like an ice skater when nobody’s watching, so that’s actually a plus, too. I’m trying to give a lot of little interesting detail to color without completely overwhelming the images. I tend to think that more is more and get lost in the minutia, so I’m trying to balance the scenes out with some nice big white spaces.

I’m not sure if I will post all of these, so as not to spoil the surprise of the whole coloring book, but who knows? I think that they may at least make it in here in graphite sketch form, as a teaser! Another sketch in this series is already done, so stay tuned.
