Well, I finally did it! I took my sketchbook outside to paint! Snow fell this week where I live, so it wasn’t something that I was planning on doing. This morning, however, not only was the snow melted completely, but the weather was lovely and mild.
I couldn’t resist. I put together my little watercolor kit and took it outside into the yard to check on the garden.
The flower bulbs that I planted last Fall have survived the hungry deer and the inclement weather and have started to bloom! I took this morning to soak up the sun and make a watercolor sketch.
My view is predominantly the cluster of hyacinths, because they were tricky and fun to draw. With all of the little trumpet-shaped buds pointing in different directions, I found myself focused on that section of the painting. I put crocuses in the sketch as well, but I didn’t really get into developing them before I stepped away this afternoon.
This was super fun, so there will definitely be more outdoor adventures to come!
