Today I worked on coloring this little drawing of a carved wooden horse, using it as an excuse to play with lines and shapes using a limited color palette. In this instance, limited mobility worked in my favor, because I didn’t even think about grabbing another marker apart from the five colors I’d chosen to work together. I finished it by giving everything dimension with colored pencils, mostly bright blues and very dark blue and red. I’m not sure that I’m going to take this sketch any further because the under-drawing is kind of wonky, but I ended up with the calming colors and vibes of effort and growth I wanted, so the sketchbook page makes me happy!
