Today’s sketch is inspired by the backyard garden of my dreams. I’m a sucker for statuary in real life, and when I draw, I love the ambiguity that statues have. As images, they’re supposed to be descriptive and realistic, but also obviously false. It invites you to play in the uncanny valley, and that’s one of my favorite places to set up imaginary camp.
I’m almost certain that I’m going to work on it some more – probably with color! I would love an excuse to break out my markers and colored pencils this week.
Meanwhile, I’m making a bunch of stickers (this time with the botanical illustrations from my last few posts), as well as fiddling with graphic design things. I think that I’ll be back later this week with another dive into an old sketchbook! See you then.
