I’m still spending most of my time on the computer at the moment, doing things that are too boring to post about. Meanwhile, I’m spending my morning warm-ups doing little illustrations in my sketchbook. These are small, so I can practice over a whole page spread before moving on for the day.
I’m still working through the remains that I mixed of some fun, fruit colors on my watercolor and gouache palettes. For the scene above, I took inspiration from an interior photo with a lovely lemon-colored cabinet and plopped a figure in. He’s very wonkily-drawn, but since I wanted to get the watercolor painted in the same morning, I committed.
This morning, I did the peaches on branches below. It’s the same story here: I wanted to cover the whole area in no more than two hours, so I really went for it in this tiny sketchbook. This painting needs, one more layer of detail to make it pop, but I’m waiting for this layer of paint to dry. You can see that I’m impatient – it’s still a little wet in the photo!
