Earlier this week, I felt like practicing some portrait drawing. It ended up being this pencil sketch with a textured, monochromatic background. My inspiration was “apprehension” – the feeling that I saw in my inspiration and that I wanted to explore when I while I was fussing around, trying to place her features.
Something about her nose is weird, I think. I would probably continue to fuss around with it if I were planning on doing anything with this drawing, but I’m happy with it as a sketchbook exercise. I usually have a really hard time with lips in particular for whatever reason, but I feel pretty good them here!
