So far this week, I’ve finished my Autumn floral design from my last post! I love painting with gouache. There’s something so rewarding about how matte and crisp everything looks when you’re finished, and because it dries so quickly, the process goes really fast. I’m really excited about completing these, because they’re going to become artwork for experimenting with notebook and stationary prototypes.
I had a difficult time balancing the colors on this illustration in particular. To my eye, in real life, the gray is a little more blue-green and the light ochre color is more of a true gold, but no matter how I messed with the color channels I can’t get it exactly right. That’s okay, because I plan on doing a little tweaking of all of the designs a little in Photoshop before using them in a design anyways.
Since the sketch for my winter botanicals is conveniently pasted into my sketchbook like last time, I will probably be back soon with an update on this final design!
