The most intimidating idea about starting this blog is that I don’t know if I have enough words to go with the pictures. I write all the time as a natural sort of process, but in the way that a lot of people do: from the safety of a journal that no one is supposed to read. I can be as awful or as grammatically incorrect as I want from there without putting myself up for public shame.
The second most intimidating idea about starting this blog is that there is an implicit expectation that it continue into the triple question marks. I am in real danger of feeling like a reluctant host the morning after a long party, which is one of the worst things that can happen to anyone.
It seems like what I need is a little balance and a little luck, and I was thinking about both when I doodled this in my sketchbook. The imagery is drawn from the tarot – specifically the Temperance card, which is all about balancing and adjusting. You’ll see a ton of tarot card inspiration if you stick around, fair warning.
The drawing is essentially a color experiment using mixed-brand alcohol based markers and some detail using Stabilo fineliners. It’s a little Lisa Frank and a little Peter Max. If I were to finish it, I would probably add more detail, a second wing, and some fun stuff happening down near the bottom. More blush pink on top of the royal blue background might look really nice.
Also, anatomy regrets. Anatomy regret forever.
That might become my sign out.
