The Ashen Glass tarot started as a drawing exercise and has grown to a beloved long-term project. The finished product will be a full deck of 78 cards, illustrated in the traditional Rider Waite style. The hand-drawn graphite style is a nod to the fact that the earliest decks were drawn and painted individually.
Below are the four cards posted on the blog so far, showing two of the Major Arcana (The Empress and Temperance), one minor arcana (The Nine of Coins), and the Title Card that introduces the deck. My plan is to keep the grayscale of the graphite artwork as it is, but to enclose it within a colored frame. I’m currently working on those drawings and mock ups to show how a “finished” card will look.
