oil paint, 12″ x 12″
Today’s painting isn’t new, it’s quite a few years old! Although I studied with oils, this is the last oil painting I finished, and it was quite a while ago, now.
I drew this scene from a photo that I took on my little porch garden. I had no idea what I was doing, yet, with plants! The year I took the photo for this scene, I managed to get some nasturtium seeds started in a pot. They did so well that it was really encouraging! I took a photo with a keepsake (a daruma doll – given to me by a friend) nestled in the leaves. I used vibrant, saturated colors that I thought would capture the intensity of the bright summer sunshine.
Right now, in the intense heat of the summer, it seemed a good time to share this one!
