This Halloween cat illustration in the sketchbook was pretty quick and dirty, but turned out really nicely for what was a quick one-hour exercise. It also feels great to get seasonal in my new workspace, even if I’m still technically settling in!
My current mood is still: “Is it spring yet?!” I can’t wait to get outside this year. I used that energy to do this little study of a lady just enjoying the green grass, because that’s what I want to do right now.
The last time that I had a palette full of paint, I just added it to the background of the next pages. This time it was purple, you can see it peeking though here and there where I didn’t cover it all up with gouache. I kept it simple and stylized with the figure, but had a lot of fun with filling the rest of the space up with fun brushwork where I wasn’t too careful about anything.
That’s all for now. I’m back at my tablet in front of a screen today, thinking about the summer when my shop is up and I take my sketchbook outside again!
