I can’t pretend that I didn’t mention a major goal weeks ago, which has passed with October. I had wanted to launch my online shop this month, which includes projects that I’ve been working for a long time, like a cheeseburger coloring book, stationery, notebooks, and stickers. In many ways, I’m so close. But just in time for Halloween, my faithful computer decided to give up the ghost, and leave me in the lurch at the worst possible time.

So it goes. I’ve been pushing it past it’s capabilities for a long time, so I can’t even be mad. It has been an exercise in patience – and I’m hoping that once I’m back up and running, I’ll really be able to sprint.

I’m trying to be dauntless in the meantime and get the final yardwork done. This year I managed to dig a garden, and treated myself to a giant sack of flower bulbs. According to the internet, I can plant these bad boys any time before the ground freezes. Because of all the global warming, it doesn’t look like I have to worry about that for a while yet, but in the meantime, I am trying to figure out what to do with them all.

That’s where today’s post is from! Because I always end up making little illustrations in my notes, I figure that I would substitute a little bit of sketchbook time this week for notes on gardening. The diagram above shows information useful to planting spring bulbs in layers, so that different types bloom in the same area all season long. I drew each variety I bought in the second diagram, with highlighted notes at the bottom of each is when it should be expected to bloom. Between the two drawings, I have a good idea where I’m going to plant the bulbs this week.

I’ll be back this week with more sketches and maybe even a little creative writing.
